Collegiate Women Sports Awards

Congratulations to Courtney Kupets, winner of the 33rd annual Honda-Broderick Cup, and the 2009 Collegiate Woman Athlete of the Year. Kupets, a star gymnast at the University of Georgia, is a two-time Honda Sports Award winner (2007, 2009).

The Collegiate Women Sports Awards program, presented by Honda, recognizes accomplishments made in women's collegiate sports. Each year, the nation's top Division I female collegiate athletes are honored for their outstanding achievements in their respective sports, with one of the honorees taking home the coveted Honda-Broderick Cup.

Throughout the year, athletes in 12 individual sports are named Honda Award winners by more than 1,000 National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA) administrators.

At the conclusion of the year, the Honda-Broderick Cup and the title of the Collegiate Woman Athlete of the Year is given to the woman who demonstrates superior individual athletic achievement and embodies the ideals of team contribution, scholastic endeavor and school and community involvement.

In addition to the twelve Division I awards, three additional awards are given: NCAA Division II and III Collegiate Woman Athlete of the Year Awards and the Honda Inspiration Award, which is presented to a female collegiate athlete who has shown extraordinary strength of character while overcoming adversity to excel in her sport.
