The Honda Classic

Congratulations to Michael Thompson for coming up big when it mattered most and winning the 2013 Honda Classic®, which ran February 25-March 3. The 27-year-old closed with a 1-under 69 to win his very first PGA TOUR® event. Thompson held off an outstanding playing field that featured elite players from around the globe, including American Tiger Woods, Japan's Ryo Ishikawa, and defending champion—and the #1 ranked golfer in the world— Rory Mcllroy of Ireland.

The victory also marked a huge turnaround for Thompson, who finished last in the field at a PGA tournament just two weeks prior. In addition from going worst to first on the leaderboard, Thompson went from used to new by winning a brand-new Honda. Thompson drove to the Honda Classic in an older-model Honda but left the tournament in a 2013 Honda.

While the Honda Classic always brings exciting PGA TOUR action to Palm Beach County, the ultimate goal is to positively impact youth in need. Since its inception, the tournament has contributed more than $22 million to national and local charities, including the Nicklaus Children's Health Care Foundation. The mission is to provide charitable support for activities that advance and enhance the diagnosis, treatment and prevention of childhood diseases and disorders.

Honda is proud to be the title sponsor and primary charitable contributor of the tournament, as well as the official vehicle of the tournament's host site, PGA National Resort & Spa. For more information, visit
