Honda thinking in action

When it comes to talking about the environment, we let our products speak for themselves. In 1974, Honda introduced the ingeniously simple Civic CVCC engine. World-changing for its fuel efficiency and low emissions, the CVCC demonstrated our spirited commitment to environmentally responsible technology. Many other firsts were to follow, such as the first hybrid vehicle sold in North America and the first government-certified fuel-cell car. This legacy of innovation and acting on our beliefs is seen in every Honda product, like the 45-mpg 2008 Civic Hybrid*.

Honda's legacy of innovation is unmatched in the automotive industry. As always, our attention is focused on the future. For example, starting in 2008, select California drivers will be able to lease the FCX Clarity fuel cell vehicle. It's all part of Honda thinking in action.

Environmental Technology
Honda's environmental work is based on the efforts to advance clean and efficient technologies while continuing to develop and improve emerging technologies and alternative sources of fuel.

Natural Gas
In the near future, gasoline will likely remain our main source of fuel. Honda will strive to increase the efficiency of our products as well as develop vehicles that run on alternative fuels such as natural gas in order to reduce emissions and minimize dependency on oil.

Hybrids
The best of both worlds, Honda hybrid vehicles combine the performance and convenience of gas with the efficiency of electricity.

Fuel Cells
The Honda FCX Clarity, powered by fuel-cell technology, will hit the streets of California in 2008, leaving behind trails of water vapor—and admiring looks.

Local Involvement
For more than 40 years, Honda has supported programs and projects that focus on maintaining a clean and healthy environment for communities throughout the country.

Initiatives & Awards
We are proud of our environmental initiatives and the numerous awards we have received for our pioneering efforts.
