Honda’s Commitment to Safety

Honda is committed to providing safety for everyone — that means crash protection not only for our own drivers and passengers, but also for the occupants of other vehicles, and injury mitigation for pedestrians. We are dedicated to identifying and implementing advanced designs and features that help enhance the safety of vehicles on the road. As a result, Honda and Acura models feature many of the following safety technologies as standard equipment:

Occupant Position Detection System (OPDS) - stops deployment of the front passenger side airbag when it senses that a child or small-statured adult in the front passenger seat is in the airbags’ path of deployment.

Side curtain airbags for every row of every vehicle* - Cover the side windows in a sufficiently severe collision. Our light trucks have a rollover sensor to deploy the side curtain airbags in the unlikely event of a rollover.

The Advanced Compatibility Engineering™ (ACE™) body structure is used in almost every Honda and Acura vehicle. ACE enhances occupant protection and crash compatibility in frontal collisions by using a network of connected structural elements to distribute crash energy more evenly throughout the front of the vehicle. This enhanced frontal crash energy management helps to reduce the forces transferred to the passenger compartment and, secondarily, can help to more evenly disperse the forces transferred to other vehicles in a crash.

The Gold Wing Airbag System is the first of its kind on a production motorcycle. The Honda Airbag deploys from atop the fuel tank and helps protect the rider from frontal (or head-on) impacts.

Seat belts are the single most effective safety device for drivers and passengers. All Honda vehicles come standard with 3-point seat belts at all seating positions.

All children are safest when seated and belted in the back seat. Infants and smaller children must be properly restrained in child seats.
