Leadership in Future Technologies

Honda engineers are developing "pre-collision" safety technology to support drivers' efforts to prevent collisions before they occur.

Today, there are more demands than ever on the driver's attention to the road and reaction time. So Honda introduced the world's first Collision Mitigation Braking System (CMBS) utilizing millimeter wave radar technology to detect the possibility of a collision.

Visual and audio warnings and an automatic tug of the seat belt alert the driver to take action. If a collision cannot be avoided, front seat belts are automatically retracted and braking force reduces the vehicle's speed to help reduce the force of the collision. The system made its American debut on the 2006 Acura RL, and is now featured on other Acura models, as well as the Honda FCX Clarity.

Millimeter wave radar technology enables the Acura RL to alert the driver to a potential collision.

Honda continues to invest in the creation of innovative technologies to enhance safety for everyone.
